I had a knitting lesson this morning, at Amazing Yarns in Emerald Hills. The store itself is beautiful, because it's in Andrea, the owner's, house, and she has a waterfall in her house taking up an entire wall. The yarns are great, she has custom spinners and dyers, but they are way out of my price range. Andrea and her partner invented the "Amazing Needle", which is a needle/crochet/tatting tool all in one. I'm not sure how it works though.
My mom bought me and her 4 knitting lessons for christmas. I wasted the first one because I didn't know what I wanted to do. But this one was great, I brought in the yarn, she had me swatch it in different stitch patterns and then we made a pattern. That is Andrea's specialty, helping people design sweaters. She really let me do most of the work myself, and I can't wait to knit it up, but I have way too much on my plate right now.
I have recently discovered that I have outgrown my stash. I have been knitting my entire life but now my life is more fashion oriented I just want to make clothes, especially sweaters. I have a gigantic stash but not enough of one kind of yarn to make sweaters. My roommate and my mother came up with the best idea: knit up scarves, hats, ipod and cell phone cozies and sell them with my mom's friend at a crafts fair. It's kind of a lot of pressure though, trying to get make as many as I can by the fair in November. I came back to the city today and have been furiously knitting trying to finish Stephanie Japel's Mesh Tank. I am so close to being done, I want to have that accomplishment before I stop knitting for myself. Then I have to finish my roommates birthday present. And THEN I can get stuff done for the crafts fair. So enough typing! Must knit...
